The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris have come to a close, with a spectacular closing ceremony at the Stade de France. More than 10,000 athletes paraded through the stadium, with American gold medalists Katie Ledecky and Nick Mead serving as flag bearers. The ceremony featured performances by Phoenix and H.E.R., as well as a symbolic handover to the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles with Tom Cruise rappelling into the stadium.

In track and field, Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, and Cole Hocker were among the stars who shone brightly, with Richardson leading the U.S. women to relay gold, Lyles being named the fastest man in the world after winning the men’s 100-meter, Thomas conquering the women’s 200-meter, and Hocker pulling off a surprise victory in the men’s 1,500.

Overall, the Paris Games were a showcase of incredible athletic performances, resilience, and triumphs, leaving spectators in awe and admiration of the athletes’ abilities.
