A worker at a remote radar station in the Canadian Arctic was attacked and killed by two polar bears. The incident occurred on Brevoort Island, Nunavut, owned by Nasittuq Corporation, which has offered support and counseling to the victim’s family and colleagues. Polar bear attacks are rare, and the company is working with authorities to investigate. Canada has a large polar bear population, managed and protected by wildlife acts. This incident follows a similar attack in Alaska where a mother and son were killed by a bear, prompting a resident to shoot and kill the bear. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have been contacted for more information on the recent attack.
