Former NFL lineman Gosder Cherilus pled not guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, disturbing a flight crew, and resisting arrest after allegedly urinating on an elderly woman during a Boston-to-Ireland flight. The incident caused the plane to turn back to Boston. Witnesses reported that Cherilus was drunk and unhappy with his seat assignment before exposing himself and urinating on the woman while the plane was 36,000 feet above Nova Scotia. Passengers were shocked and in fear for their safety due to his behavior, which also involved assaulting another passenger. Cherilus was eventually arrested by state police after the flight returned to Boston. He blamed his actions on a bad reaction to sleep medication in a social media post and apologized for his behavior. Cherilus played nine seasons in the NFL and had a successful college career at Boston College. Delta Airlines confirmed the incident and stated they have zero tolerance for unlawful behavior. Cherilus did not answer questions from reporters outside of court, and the case is ongoing.
