A luxury superyacht sank near Palermo, Sicily during a violent storm, resulting in one death and six missing individuals. The 184-ft sailboat had 22 people on board and sank due to severe weather conditions and a tornado. A baby was being treated at a children’s hospital, while seven adults were taken to the emergency room but were not in serious condition. Seven others were at the Port Authority and six were still missing. The Italy Fire Department deployed divers, a motorboat, and a helicopter for search and rescue. The yacht was named Bayesian and was built by Perini in 2008. It could carry up to 12 guests and a crew of 10, and was available for charter for 195,000 euros a week. The boat left Milazzo on August 14 and was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening. Fabio La Bianca, who took a picture of the boat before the incident, expressed shock and sorrow over the tragedy. Rescuers, including divers from Sassari and Naples, were searching the sunken vessel for more survivors.
