A recent NBC News poll shows that Republican views of Taylor Swift have declined significantly since she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. The poll found that 47% of Republicans now view Swift negatively, up from 26% in the previous year, while only 12% have a positive view of her, down from 28%. Among Democrats, 58% view Swift positively, slightly higher than the previous year, while 26% of independents have a positive attitude towards her, down from 34%. This shift has lowered Swift’s overall favorability rating among registered voters from 40% to 33%, with 27% now reporting negative feelings about her compared to 16% previously.
The Democratic pollster who conducted the survey remarked on the significant drop in Swift’s ratings among Republicans, suggesting that it may be better for celebrities to stay out of politics. Swift’s endorsement of Harris came after a debate with former President Donald Trump, where she praised the vice president as a “steady-handed, gifted leader.” Trump responded by posting on his social media platform, expressing his dislike for Swift. Harris, on the other hand, has embraced the endorsement and commended Swift for her courage.
The NBC News poll was conducted among 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. This data demonstrates the impact of Swift’s political involvement on her public image, particularly among Republican voters.
