Ethan Diaz, a 22-year-old man from New Jersey, pleaded no contest to child abuse charges after being accused of selling sex videos of a 16-year-old Florida girl on the adults-only website OnlyFans. He was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation, with credit for over a year of time served. Diaz was prohibited from using OnlyFans and contacting the victim during his probation.
Diaz met the girl online and convinced her to create sexual content for OnlyFans. Over several months, he posted explicit videos and images of her on the platform. In April 2023, Diaz flew to Florida and was arrested for filming six sex videos with the girl before they could be posted on OnlyFans. The case gained attention in a Reuters report, which highlighted numerous complaints about child sexual abuse material on the site.
OnlyFans claims to vet users and content to prevent underage individuals from accessing the platform. Diaz also pleaded no contest to charges of custodial interference and illegal use of a communication device. His attorney, James Hill, declined to comment on the case.
The sentencing of Diaz serves as a warning about the exploitation of minors on online platforms and the importance of monitoring and regulating content to protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
