This Week’s Oklahoma Weather Embracing its Oklahoma Roots

Multiple wildfires broke out in Oklahoma on Monday due to hot, dry, and windy conditions. Satellite and radar were used to spot large fires in counties like Logan and Garfield. Red Flag Warnings were in place until 8:00 PM. More than half of the state has active Burn Bans as the drought persists. Record heat was seen in many areas, with high winds exacerbating fire conditions.

Despite continued hot temperatures and strong winds on Tuesday, an increase in relative humidity and dew points will lower fire danger. Wednesday brings the possibility of severe weather with a strong cold front and dryline. Storms could develop in the Panhandles or along the I-35 corridor.

After the storms pass, a cold front will bring cooler temperatures for Thursday and Friday, perfect for Halloween. The weekend will see heavy rain, offering relief from drought conditions. Severe weather is not expected, but storms may occur at times.

This rainy period may extend into the second week of November, potentially making up for a dry summer and fall. While temperatures will remain slightly warmer than normal, the added rain will be a welcome change from the recent wildfires. Overall, the weather outlook includes a shift from fires to storms to heavy rains, offering hope for improved conditions. Be sure to download the Fox 25 Weather App for updates.
