Oklahoma set to face off against Football this Saturday

The University of Maine’s football team is gearing up for its first-ever meeting with the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Black Bears, with a record of 4-4, will look to secure their fifth win against an FBS opponent in school history. Last season, Maine opened with a close loss to Florida International University. However, they have since won three of their last five games, showcasing strong offensive performances.

Meanwhile, the Sooners are currently on a three-game losing streak, struggling on both offense and defense. Despite their recent setbacks, they hold an 11-3 record against current FCS members. Maine, on the other hand, has seen significant improvement over the past two years, doubling their win total each season and securing wins over ranked FCS opponents.

A win over Oklahoma would mark several milestones for the Black Bears, including their first win over the Sooners, first win in the state of Oklahoma, and sixth win against an FBS opponent. Coach Stevens is also seeking his first win against an FBS program.

With a challenging schedule and strong performances against ranked opponents, Maine is poised to make a statement with a victory over Oklahoma. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+/SECN+ and can be heard locally on 92.9 The Ticket. The Black Bears are ready to showcase their talent and determination on the national stage.
