Oklahoma Sooners Dominate Stetson Hatters in 85-64 Home Victory
NORMAN, OK – The Oklahoma Sooners showcased a commanding performance on Saturday, defeating the Stetson Hatters 85-64 at home, improving their record to 3-0. Kobe Elvis led the way with an impressive 24 points, six assists, and three steals, while Jalon Moore contributed with 21 points and five rebounds.
After an initial struggle, the Sooners found their rhythm, launching a staggering 23-2 run in the first half to take a commanding 18-point lead. Despite trailing early in the game, Stetson, spearheaded by Abramo Canka, who scored 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, made a significant push to narrow the gap to 51-43 following an 8-0 run. Jordan Wood added 11 points to aid Stetson’s efforts.
Oklahoma’s response was swift; Duke Miles halted Stetson’s momentum with a timely three-pointer, allowing the Sooners to embark on another dominant stretch, outscoring the Hatters 16-0 to establish a 70-46 lead with just over seven minutes left in the game.
The Hatters struggled with turnovers, giving up the ball 23 times, which Oklahoma capitalized on, converting those turnovers into 31 points. Defensively, Sam Godwin and Elvis each recorded three steals, contributing to Oklahoma’s 15 offensive rebounds and a total of 21 assists, showcasing their effective ball movement.
Jeremiah Fears also made his mark for the Sooners, scoring 11 points while contributing three rebounds and three assists. Despite shooting 9-for-24 from beyond the arc, the Sooners’ powerful inside game and defensive strategy proved decisive against Stetson, who fell to 1-3 on the season.
The game concluded with unfortunate news for Stetson’s Josh Massey, who suffered a bloody nose after a collision and played only 13 minutes. The Sooners look to build on their momentum in the upcoming matches.
