Sooners Dominate Stetson in 85-64 Victory
The Oklahoma Sooners played with impressive precision and resilience to secure an 85-64 victory over the Stetson Hatters, marking their third win of the season. Following a solid performance against Northwestern State, the Sooners continued to find their rhythm despite missing key players Jadon Jones and Brycen Goodine due to injuries.
Oklahoma showcased their offensive prowess in the first half, leading 44-28 at halftime. Led by standout Kobe Elvis, who scored 19 of his 24 points in the first half, the Sooners employed effective ball movement and quick pace. Jalon Moore also shone brightly with 21 points, aiding the team in capitalizing on turnovers to generate scoring opportunities.
However, the Sooners faced a brief hiccup at the start of the second half, allowing Stetson to close the gap to eight points. Yet, a resurgent 12-0 run midway through the second half helped Oklahoma regain control and extend their lead to 20 points. The Sooners ultimately finished strongly, with Elvis contributing six assists and three steals, demonstrating leadership and comfort on the court.
Defensively, Oklahoma faced challenges against Stetson’s size, with the Hatters finding success from beyond the arc. Despite some defensive lapses, the Sooners improved as the game progressed, particularly in forcing turnovers, which led to 31 points off turnovers for Oklahoma.
The bench also played a pivotal role, with Jeremiah Fears scoring 11 points and contributing significantly. Head coach Porter Moser praised player development and the resilience shown during the game.
With their cohesion improving, the Sooners are looking forward to building upon this success as they progress through the season.
