Dominating Performance: Dawgs Crush Northwestern on Senior Day with Big Plays and Strong Defense

Southwestern Oklahoma Dominates Northwestern in Season Finale, 50-0

WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) football capped off their 2024 season with a resounding 50-0 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWO) in a game notable for both its decisive score and the first shutout for SWOSU in over two decades.

The win, the largest margin of victory for SWOSU since 2015, served as retribution for their 41-0 defeat to the same team last season. The offense excelled, amassing a season-high 438 yards, while quarterback Tate Robards—celebrated during Senior Day—threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns, also contributing two rushing scores.

Robards began the game with an interception but quickly regained composure, leading the Bulldogs to two early touchdown connections with Elijah Reed, putting the team ahead 14-0 by the end of the first quarter. The defense shone throughout the match, limiting Northwestern to just 227 yards and achieving an impressive 1-of-13 on third down conversions while forcing four turnovers.

In a dominant third quarter, the Bulldogs delivered three turnovers, highlighted by a 43-yard rushing touchdown from Dante Dean and a subsequent fumble recovery that led to another quick score. Defensive standout Logan Monroe notched a career-high 13 tackles, further solidifying SWOSU’s defensive prowess.

Three more touchdowns in the final quarter, including a short run by Robards and a late 22-yard reception by Baylor Nash, capped off the scoring frenzy. SWOSU’s Michael Arceneaux II also made headlines with an interception to thwart a Ranger scoring attempt.

Honor was paid to ten seniors before the game, marking the conclusion of an era for players like Robards and Monroe as they bid farewell to their college football journey.
