President-elect Donald Trump has selected former congressman and Fox Business host Sean Duffy to be his transportation secretary in the next administration. This follows Trump’s nomination of Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for the Defense Department. Trump praised Duffy as a respected voice during his time in Congress and highlighted his focus on fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. He stated that Duffy will work to maintain and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure and improve the travel experience for Americans.
Duffy responded by expressing eagerness to help usher in a new golden age of transportation. The post will require Senate confirmation and oversee roughly 58,000 workers in the Transportation Department. Fox praised Duffy for his valuable insights and analysis during his time co-hosting a show for the network and announced his departure from Fox News Media effective immediately.
Duffy, 53, served in the House from 2011 to 2019 and previously worked as a special prosecutor and district attorney. He gained fame for appearing on the reality TV show “The Real World: Boston” in 1997 and is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy, a fellow reality TV personality. Overall, Trump believes that Duffy will prioritize safety, efficiency, and innovation in transportation and looks forward to his contributions to the nation’s infrastructure.
