Former Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has had a long and successful career in politics, serving in various positions for a total of 24 years. After leaving office in 2019, Fallin and her husband, Wade Christensen, have found a new passion in boating. They embarked on a challenging journey navigating the Down East Circle, a route that took them three thousand miles from New York City to the eastern coast of Canada. Despite facing weather delays, language barriers, and swift rivers, the couple successfully completed the trip, passing the Statue of Liberty on their way back to the U.S.
Only 12 to 15 people complete this route each year, making Fallin and Christensen’s accomplishment quite remarkable. Fallin encourages others to pursue their dreams, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zone. She believes that life is short and retirement is the perfect time to explore new experiences and challenges.
As they settle back into life in Oklahoma, Fallin and Christensen already have plans for their next boating adventure. The couple’s resilience and determination in navigating the open waters serve as an inspiration to others to push themselves beyond their limits and embrace new opportunities. Whatever the next chapter holds for Fallin and Christensen, they are ready to tackle it head on with the same spirit of adventure that led them on their unforgettable journey on the open ocean.
