DQ Grill & Chill Launches New Location in Oklahoma City

Dairy Queen Opens New Location in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK – Dairy Queen (DQ) has inaugurated its sixth location in the metro area, marking a notable addition to the culinary landscape of west Oklahoma City. Situated at MacArthur Boulevard and Reno Avenue, this new DQ Grill & Chill aims to carve out a unique space among over 50 restaurants within a one-mile radius, offering a mix of soft-serve ice cream, burgers, and chicken dishes.

Franchise owner Dara Dejbakhsh, who operates eight DQ locations statewide, expressed enthusiasm despite the competitive environment. “There is nothing similar to DQ in the area,” he stated, emphasizing the brand’s distinctive niche. Established in 1940, Dairy Queen remains a beloved brand known for its ice cream treats, including the iconic Oreo Blizzard, fostering brand loyalty among customers who have grown up with DQ.

With his Oklahoma locations averaging $1.5 million in annual revenue, Dejbakhsh is optimistic. “We have been doing very well,” he noted. The new DQ, located near a Walmart Supercenter and previously home to Zaxby’s, was a strategic choice that came after 18 months of planning.

District Manager Misty Owen highlighted the rising sales in metro OKC and the community’s demand for this new outlet. The site underwent renovations to meet DQ’s standards, completing just in time for the grand opening. Owen, who has been part of the DQ team for six years, reported an easy hiring process, starting with 48 crew members earning $11 an hour.

Looking ahead, Dejbakhsh sees a bright future for his employees, stating, “The American dream is possible for everyone.” Owen echoed this sentiment, focusing on creating positive memories for guests, emphasizing DQ’s mission to make a lasting impression.
