John E. Hoover is an award-winning journalist with a career spanning five decades in Oklahoma. He has covered various sports teams including the Dallas Cowboys, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Oklahoma Sooners during his time as a sportswriter at newspapers. In 2016, John transitioned into radio and launched his own YouTube channel, establishing DanCam Media, an independent media company.
John has contributed to publications such as Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, and Fan Nation, while also hosting daily sports talk radio shows in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and statewide. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including a national “Beat Writer of the Year” award from the Associated Press Sports Editors and two “Excellence in Sports Medicine Reporting” awards from the National Athletic Trainers Association.
In addition to his journalism work, John has advocated for the presence of certified athletic trainers in Oklahoma public high schools by speaking on Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from East Central University in Ada, OK, and hails from North Pole, Alaska.
