The Oklahoma Sooners are hopeful for a boost to their lineup ahead of their showdown with Alabama on Saturday. Running back Jovantae Barnes is listed as questionable for the game after sustaining a sprained ankle, while wide receiver Deion Burks is listed as doubtful due to a soft tissue injury and possible concussion evaluation. Last year’s leading rusher, Gavin Sawchuk, may also make a return to the field for the Sooners.
Despite missing several key players, including right tackle Jake Taylor, who is out for the week, the Sooners are looking to turn things around after losing four straight SEC games. Starting offensive tackle Michael Tarquin, who was questionable before the Missouri game, is also out.
Wide receiver Jalil Farooq has been recovering from an injury and is expected to continue contributing to the team. The Sooners have ruled out multiple players for the remainder of the regular season, including offensive lineman Jacob Sexton, wide receiver Jayden Gibson, and several others.
The Sooners will face a tough matchup against the No. 7-ranked Crimson Tide, with OU being a 13 1/2-point underdog. The game will be broadcasted on ABC, with Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Holly Rowe on the call. Oklahoma leads the all-time series against Alabama and will look to secure a victory in front of their home crowd at Owen Field in Norman.
