Oklahoma Sooners Basketball Prepares for Battle 4 Atlantis after Mixed Performances

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Oklahoma Sooners men’s basketball team is gearing up for the prestigious Battle 4 Atlantis tournament after a series of mixed results in their preseason games. They will face Providence in their opening matchup on November 27, followed by a potential clash with Arizona or Davidson.

Oklahoma’s preparation included a series of buy games, starting with a controlled victory over Lindenwood. However, the team’s resilience was tested against Northwestern State, where they had to rally from a halftime deficit for a win. In their latest matchup against East Texas A&M, the Sooners faced struggles, leading by only five points at halftime. Their three-point shooting was particularly poor, with just 20% accuracy in the first half.

The second half, however, marked a turning point. Led by true freshman Jeremiah Fears, who scored 20 points in his first career start, Oklahoma surged to a commanding 84-56 victory, demonstrating a significant improvement in their shooting performance. Fears was complemented by Duke Miles, who contributed 19 points, while Glenn Taylor made a notable second-half splash, hitting four threes to finish with 16 points.

The team dealt with injuries, missing guards Brycen Goodine and Jadon Jones, but adjusted their lineup effectively. The Sooners shot 47.5% for the game, showcasing strong offensive potential despite earlier disruptions.

As they head into the Battle 4 Atlantis, Oklahoma will face tougher tests that will further gauge their abilities and readiness for the season ahead. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN2, with hopes high for a successful tournament showing.
