Award-winning journalist John E. Hoover has had a successful career spanning five decades in Oklahoma. With multiple state, regional, and national awards as a sportswriter, John has covered teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Oklahoma Sooners, and Arkansas Razorbacks. In 2016, he transitioned into radio and launched a YouTube channel, ultimately creating DanCam Media.
Under the banners of Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, Fan Nation, and various magazines, John has continued to excel in sports journalism. He has also advocated for more certified athletic trainers in Oklahoma public high schools, speaking on Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City.
Throughout his career, John has earned numerous accolades, including a national “Beat Writer of the Year” award from the Associated Press Sports Editors and Oklahoma’s “Best Sports Column” award from the Society of Professional Journalists. He has also been recognized for his reporting on sports medicine by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from East Central University and hails from North Pole, Alaska. He currently resides in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with his wife and two children.
