Oklahoma Basketball Dominates East Texas A&M in 84-56 Win
NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma Sooners made a strong statement on Thursday night, cruising to an 84-56 victory over East Texas A&M, thanks to standout performances from freshmen Jeremiah Fears and Duke Miles. Fears, showcasing his offensive prowess, led the Sooners with a season-best 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, complemented by five assists and four rebounds. Miles added 19 points, hitting 7 of 13 shots, including three 3-pointers.
The game got off to a competitive start, with the Sooners heading into halftime with a narrow 38-33 lead, fueled by Fears’ 11 first-half points and Miles’ 14. However, Oklahoma asserted its dominance in the second half, scoring 46 points while limiting the Lions to just 23. Glenn Taylor Jr. emerged as a key contributor off the bench, draining four 3-pointers and finishing with 16 points.
Oklahoma’s overall shooting was impressive, converting 47.5% of their attempts from the field, including a 31.3% rate from beyond the arc. The Sooners also excelled at the free-throw line, hitting 18 of 22 attempts. In contrast, the Lions struggled offensively, shooting only 37.7% from the floor and 21.9% from three-point territory.
With this victory, the Sooners improve their record to 4-0 and will head to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis, where they will play three games in three days, starting with Providence on Wednesday. The team’s solid performance against East Texas A&M sets the stage for a challenging upcoming tournament as they look to maintain their strong start to the season.
