Skulls found on a New Mexico property earlier this month were determined to be unrelated to the case of a missing woman from 2019. The Lea County Sheriff’s Office stated that the skulls were obtained online and had ornamental pieces or carvings from outside the United States. An investigation revealed that the remains found on the property had no medical or legal significance, leading to their cremation. Initially, there was speculation that the discovery could be related to the case of Angela McManes, who went missing in 2019. However, the sheriff’s office later clarified that there was no connection between the skulls and McManes, aside from the proximity of her home to where the skulls were found. The situation arose after a man carrying two bags made alarming statements and discarded objects that appeared to be human bones in Lea County. Further investigation led to the discovery of the skulls on a property in Jal. The sheriff’s office emphasized that the case of the missing woman and the online procurement of the skulls were not linked, and the remains were determined to have been purchased from the internet.
