Harding Women’s Basketball narrowly defeats Southwestern Oklahoma, 59-56


In a thrilling match on Saturday, the Harding Lady Bisons emerged victorious with a 59-56 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. Rory Geer led the charge with 17 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Sage Hawley with 16 points and Aubrey Isbell with 14. This victory keeps Harding (16-4, 12-2 Great American Conference) tied for first place with Southern Nazarene.

The game was tightly contested with six lead changes and ties, but Harding managed to pull ahead in the final minutes. Southwestern Oklahoma’s Averi Zinn scored 17 points, while Layni Zinn added 11 in a valiant effort. The Lady Bulldogs briefly took the lead in the fourth quarter, but Harding responded with a crucial 8-2 run to secure the win.

Despite a late rally by Southwestern Oklahoma, Harding’s strong defense and rebounding game proved crucial, outrebounding their opponents 38-30. They also had an impressive free-throw shooting performance, making 18 of 19 attempts.

Harding is now gearing up for their upcoming games against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene as they continue their push for the top spot in the GAC standings. Fans can catch their next game on Thursday against Oklahoma Baptist.
