A bomb exploded in the lobby of the luxury apartment block “Scarlet Sails” in Moscow, killing one person and injuring four others. The attack was targeting pro-Russian paramilitary leader Armen Sarkisyan, who is accused by Ukraine of aiding Russia’s war effort in Donetsk. Law enforcement called it an “assassination attempt” and stated that Sarkisyan was in critical condition, with part of his leg being amputated. Investigators are working to identify those responsible for ordering the crime. Video footage shows significant damage to the lobby of the building, but reports of Sarkisyan being seriously wounded could not be immediately confirmed. In December, Ukraine’s SBU security service labeled Sarkisyan as a “crime boss” in Donetsk and accused him of forming a pro-Russian military group and aiding illegal armed groups. The blast in Moscow comes after Ukraine claimed responsibility for the killing of Russian General Igor Kirillov in a bomb blast in Moscow in December. There was no immediate response from Ukraine regarding the recent attack on Sarkisyan.
