New Addition to the 120-Year Legacy of Peters & Sons | Lifestyle

Peters & Sons Flowers and Gifts in Spokane, Wash., is gearing up for a busy Valentine’s Day with new ownership. Susan and Ray Matteson, who have been in the flower business for over 30 years, have decided to pass the baton to Caitlin Collins, who officially became the newest owner on February 1.

Despite the challenges of entering the floral industry during the hectic Valentine’s season, Collins felt drawn to the business and was grateful for the mentorship of the Mattesons. The shop typically has 150 delivery orders between February 13 and 14, making it a particularly busy time for the new owner.

Longtime customers have been showing their support for the transition, expressing their appreciation for the 120-year legacy of Peters & Sons. The Mattesons, who consider their customers as family, are feeling bittersweet about leaving the business they have built over the years.

As the Mattesons oversee their final Valentine’s Day at the shop, they are confident that Collins will continue the tradition of providing quality flowers and gifts to the community. Despite the challenges of a new ownership transition, Peters & Sons is set to continue spreading love and joy through their beautiful arrangements for years to come.
