Firefighters warn nearby homes are at risk as vacant house in NW Oklahoma City catches fire

Firefighters in northwest Oklahoma City worked tirelessly to extinguish a large house fire that broke out overnight near Northwest 16th Street and Broadway. The vacant home was engulfed in flames, posing a serious threat to neighboring houses. Despite facing challenges such as low water pressure and strong winds, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as no one was inside the burning home. However, as a precaution, residents in the vicinity were evacuated. OG&E was called to address downed power lines, but power outages were avoided. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

Battalion Chief Derak Stewart praised the efforts of the firefighters in containing the blaze under difficult circumstances. The intensity of the fire and the close proximity of the houses made it a tough firefight, but the firefighters’ quick response prevented a larger disaster.

The visible flames shooting from the burning house were a cause of concern for the residents and the fire department, but their swift action averted a potential catastrophe. The community is grateful for the firefighters’ dedication and skill in protecting their homes and ensuring everyone’s safety.
