SWOSU loses both games in Raising Cane’s Festival


SWOSU Softball suffered two losses against MIAA foes Missouri Southern and No. 13-ranked Central Oklahoma at the Raising Cane’s Festival in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Bulldogs fell 10-4 to MSSU and 15-2 against UCO. With the remainder of the tournament canceled due to weather, SWOSU (5-5) will now focus on their home and conference opener against Harding on February 21-22.

In the first game, SWOSU scored four runs in the sixth inning against MSSU, with Jadyn Hook leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance. Alexis Taylor suffered her first loss in the circle. In the second game, SWOSU took an early lead against UCO but surrendered big innings to the Bronchos, ultimately losing 15-2 in five innings. Shallen Mershon homered in the contest.

Despite the losses, SWOSU will use the week before their next game against Harding to regroup and prepare. The upcoming home and conference opener will give them a chance to bounce back and showcase their skills in front of their fans. Fans can expect an exciting matchup between these two teams, and SWOSU will be looking to come out on top and improve their record.
