Chandler impound lot discovers stolen Oklahoma veteran’s trailer over a year later

Oklahoma City man Kevin Benson’s stolen trailer, missing since November 2023, has been found abandoned on the Turner Turnpike in Chandler. Benson located his 22-foot trailer but is now facing challenges as the impound lot is demanding thousands of dollars in fees before releasing his property. The lot owner, Howard Dickman, claimed the trailer had no identifying marks as they had been removed and the trailer was repainted. Despite Benson holding the trailer title, Dickman insists on payment for recovery and storage fees. Benson plans to involve the Chandler Police Department and the Lincoln County District Attorney to resolve the situation. He expressed frustration at the thought of having to pay for the return of his stolen property after the extensive efforts he put into locating it. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was able to track down the trailer easily, leading Benson to believe that Dickman might be purposefully withholding his property. Benson’s journey to reclaim his stolen trailer sheds light on the challenges faced by victims of theft and the complexities of recovering stolen property.
