Oklahoma athletes Tyler Sturgeon and Stephen Neal are gearing up to compete in the World Axe and Knife Throwing Championship in April. Sturgeon, participating for the fourth time, and Neal, participating for the fifth time, are now teammates in the knife duals event after battling against each other last year. Both athletes are ranked in the top five in the world and are determined to bring home the championship title to Oklahoma, a feat that has never been accomplished before.
Sturgeon and Neal, who are fully self-funded, are seeking support to cover the costly expenses associated with competing in the championship. Neal’s entry fees alone exceed $700. To donate to their cause, interested individuals can find Neal’s GoFundMe page and Sturgeon’s GoFundMe page online. The duo’s partnership exemplifies the concept of iron sharpening iron, as they push each other to improve and succeed in their sport.
Oklahoma Sports Spotlight, presented by FOX23, highlights local athletes like Sturgeon and Neal who are making a name for themselves on the national stage. The two athletes are grateful for the opportunity to represent their state and are determined to make history by becoming the first Oklahomans to win the World Axe and Knife Throwing Championship.
