Neighbor in NW OKC hears call for help from homicide victim

Oklahoma City Police arrested 39-year-old Latoya Hollis following a deadly stabbing on Sunday that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Joshua Stewart. The incident occurred at an apartment complex on the northwest side of the city. Stewart was found bleeding on the second floor of the complex and was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Hollis was detained at the scene and taken for questioning before being arrested on a charge of obstruction for refusing to come out of her apartment when officers arrived.

Neighbors reported hearing Stewart pleading for help before collapsing outside the apartment. Police called for Hollis to exit her apartment, but she did not comply, prompting officers to obtain a warrant and make entry. Investigators remained at the scene the following day, working to determine the motive behind the stabbing and the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

While no additional charges have been announced, police stated that Hollis could face murder charges pending further investigation. The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office will ultimately decide on the charges to be filed. This incident was not the first time that police responded to the same apartment complex, as they had previously been called for a noise disturbance two months prior, although no arrests were made at that time. Residents in the area expressed shock and concern over the violent incident that occurred in their normally quiet neighborhood.
