Costly Stranded Runners Lead to UT Arlington’s Loss Against Oklahoma State

The UT Arlington Mavericks fell to the No. 19 Oklahoma State Cowboys in a 10-4 defeat on Monday. Despite ample opportunities, the Mavericks struggled to capitalize on scoring chances, leaving 10 runners on base. Sophomore Nicholas Robb took the loss on the mound for UT Arlington, while senior Rhys Stevens provided a strong relief effort.

In the batter’s box, senior Tate Bethel stood out with a 2-for-4 performance and two RBI, while junior Xavier Melendez and sophomore Xander McAfee also contributed with two hits and an RBI, respectively. UT Arlington scored early in the game with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Bethel’s two-run single.

However, the Cowboys rallied to take an 8-3 lead before the Mavericks added a run in the sixth inning. Despite their efforts, UT Arlington could not close the gap as Oklahoma State secured a 10-4 victory. The Mavericks left 10 runners on base and faced 45 Cowboys hitters, striking out seven.

Looking ahead, UT Arlington will face the Houston Cougars in a three-game series starting on February 28 at Clay Gould Ballpark. Fans can stay updated on UTA Baseball by visiting UTAMavs.com or following the team on social media.
