The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders faced tough losses against Southwestern Oklahoma State over the weekend. The men’s team fell 84-66, while the women’s team lost 64-56. In the men’s game, the Bulldogs took a commanding lead in the first half and never allowed the Muleriders to catch up. Christian Caldwell and Anthony Igiede led the Muleriders with 16 and 11 points respectively. The Lady Muleriders started strong but were unable to hold off the Lady Bulldogs, with Elena Lijo-Rodriguez leading SAU with 18 points. Both teams are gearing up for their final home game against Ouachita Baptist on Thursday. With only two league games left before the GAC Postseason Tournament, the Lady Muleriders are in a tie for eighth place, while the men’s team is in eighth place. The tournament will take place from March 6-9 in Fort Smith. This game serves as senior night as well as community night and student appreciation night, is expected to be a great event for fans and players alike.
