OKC for Soccer, the organization behind Oklahoma City’s newest soccer team, is in the process of selecting a name for the team. The organization’s “Name the Team!” campaign has received over 10,000 suggestions, with some humorous entries like OKC Onion Burgers and Better Than Dallas FC being ruled out. Despite the abundance of suggestions, a final name has not yet been chosen.
OKC for Soccer President Court Jeske has expressed that they are considering a few entries and are focused on selecting a name that represents Oklahoma City and the sport of soccer. Former Thunder star Russell Westbrook, who is a part of the organization’s leadership, will also be involved in selecting the final name.
The initiative to name the team comes as part of OKC for Soccer’s efforts to establish a professional soccer presence in Oklahoma City. Russell Westbrook’s recent $10 million investment in the development of soccer in the city has also added to the excitement surrounding the new team.
As anticipation builds for the upcoming team and its official name, OKC for Soccer is continuing to engage with the community and soccer fans to create a strong foundation for the new organization. Stay tuned for updates as the team name is revealed and the journey towards professional soccer in Oklahoma City progresses.
