Grants available for Oklahoma homeowners in specific ZIP codes to fortify roofs

Homeowners in eight selected ZIP codes in Oklahoma can now apply for grants of up to $10,000 to strengthen their roofs, as part of the OKReady program. The initiative aims to help homeowners protect their properties against severe weather by funding construction projects that meet specific criteria.

The application process opens on March 3, with eligibility based on storm data, insurance loss ratios, and the number of active policies in each area. The selected ZIP codes include areas in Oklahoma City and surrounding regions with high storm-related losses and hail risk.

The pilot program will award grants to 1,000 households by the end of 2025, with the funds being allocated directly to contractors after homes receive certification for meeting safety standards. The program aims to test application processing, address technical issues, and manage grant demand through successive pilot phases.

For more information on eligibility requirements, necessary documents, and income tiers, homeowners can visit oid.ok.gov/OKReady. Questions about the program or the application process can be directed to okready@oid.ok.gov. Homeowners in the selected ZIP codes are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their homes and protect against severe weather damage.
