Cowboy Baseball Loses First Game of Series

Oklahoma State suffered a 12-6 loss to Illinois State in the series opener at O’Brate Stadium, dropping their record to 7-6 while the Redbirds improved to 3-8. Bright spots for the Cowboys included Colin Brueggemann’s two hits and three RBIs, and Nolan Schubart’s 2-for-3 effort. Pitcher Gabe Davis struggled with command, allowing three runs in two innings. Despite offensive efforts, the Cowboys fell behind early as the Redbirds took a 6-2 lead. A rally in the seventh inning brought OSU within three runs, but Illinois State extended their lead with a home run in the eighth. The remaining games in the series will now be played as a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon. The Cowboys will look to bounce back from this defeat and even the series against Illinois State with strong pitching and timely hitting.
